Accept Your Current State, Confront It and Decide to Change It.
The first step may sound overly simple, but it is the most important. Accept where you are right now, and accept what you are feeling. The first step of handling anything is gaining an ability to face it. That which a person can confront, they can handle. When a person can’t confront something, they tend to fall into the same circumstances over and over again. Nobody solves anything by running away from it. The problem must be confronted, completely.

After acknowledging what you are experiencing, you can now decide that you truly want to change it. Again, this may sound simple but there is an important point to this. Realize that you, and only you, are 100% responsible for your current emotional state. This does not mean you should blame yourself - but it does mean that you have the ability to change it.
